Maxwell Vest, MD
Dr. Maxwell Vest is a skilled and compassionate hand surgeon at the Hand Center of Nevada. Raised in Southern Illinois as one of seven siblings, Dr. Vest was deeply influenced by his father, an Orthopedic surgeon, which fueled his passion for medicine. He pursued his medical education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, graduating with High Distinction. His exceptional research on neuronal plasticity earned him the prestigious Howard S. Ducoff Award for the Best Senior Thesis in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology.
Dr. Vest continued his academic excellence at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, where he was honored with the Junior Alpha Omega Alpha Award, recognizing him as among the top 3% of his class. His extensive surgical training includes a comprehensive six-year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the state’s only Level 1 trauma center. He further specialized in hand surgery through a fellowship at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia.
During his fellowship, Dr. Vest demonstrated his commitment to global health by participating in a mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala. There, he provided hand surgery to patients who had limited access to medical care, making a significant impact on their lives.
In his personal life, Dr. Vest enjoys quality time with his wife and children, engaging in activities such as hiking, fishing, tennis, and exploring the outdoors. As the youngest member of the Hand Center of Nevada, he combines his advanced skills, academic achievements, and dedication to patient care to provide exceptional service and improve the lives of those he treats.
