- Greet patients: Provide a warm and professional welcome to patients and visitors in person or over the phone.
- Manage patient flow: Schedule appointments, notify clinical staff of patient arrivals, and manage the waiting area to optimize patient satisfaction and provider time.
- Provide information: Answer patient questions, direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel, and provide information on office policies.
- Handle emergencies: Assist patients in distress by responding to emergencies and providing comfort.
- Manage patient accounts: Collect and update personal and financial information, verify insurance, and process payments for co-pays and other balances.
- Handle records: Check in new and returning patients, verify their information, and ensure patient records are accurate, up-to-date, and confidential.
- Process correspondence: Answer phones, route calls, check emails and faxes, and process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assist with billing: File insurance claims and assist with collection activities.
- Maintain office environment: Keep the reception area organized and comfortable for patients.
- Manage supplies: Monitor and order necessary office and medical supplies.
- Support clinical staff: Assist medical assistants and providers with their administrative needs, such as preparing charts.
